This summer Milan seems to be all about the Expo circus, too bad if you believe the hype, because the real new attraction in this city is the Fondazione Prada.
Opened only last May, Fondazione Prada is simply Milan’s best art space, a truly contemporary art space that was sorely missed in this city. Located in an industrial area in the South of the city, although this former distillery has been gutted and redeveloped, it has maintained its architectonic character in many parts creating a pleasant alternation between old and new, traditional and modern, massive and intimate.
For more than two decades Fondazione Prada has been focusing on how ideas in a variety of disciplines, from literature and cinema to science and technology, have evolved and confronted the reality they are born into. The new Fondazione perfectly mirrors this research its exhibitions and permanent installations, therefore when we step over the very understated gate we’d better be ready to be taken on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, ideas, memories, reflections that only art at its best can provoke.
Thank you Fondazione Prada for this beautiful addition to Milan!
